On 4 November 2026, the European POST (Polycentric Sustainable Tourism) project will host the conference ‘Sustainable Tourism Models for New Realities’ at the Château de Bouteville, near Cognac, France.

Organised within the framework of the Interreg Atlantic Area programme, the event will bring together tourism professionals, public authorities, researchers and other stakeholders from France, Portugal, Ireland and Spain to explore new approaches to more balanced, resilient and sustainable tourism development across the Atlantic Area.

A European perspective on polycentric tourism

The conference will provide a space to exchange experiences from coastal and inland, urban and rural territories, with a particular focus on polycentric tourism and its potential to better distribute visitor flows and create new opportunities for destinations across the region.

The event will also present the main results of the POST project, including the ‘Strategy for a New Tourism Model: Polycentric Sustainable Tourism’, which sets out recommendations for a more sustainable, diversified and territorially balanced tourism model.
